Love movies? Australia’s seniors’ film festival is back in 2016

Australia’s only film festival programmed for film lovers aged 60 and up, Young At Heart, will return in April 2016 to Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and for the first time, Brisbane.

The 11^th seniors’ film festival will include a stellar program of acclaimed feature films, must-see premieres and new prints of beloved classics brought back to life on the big screen. In addition, the Festival will include special events, guest Q&As and live performances.

Program highlights include the 2015 dramas – LOUDER THAN BOMBS starring Isabelle Huppert, Jesse Eisenberg and Gabriel Byrne; FATHERS AND DAUGHTERS with Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried and Jane Fonda; and the biopic THE MAN WHO KNEW INFINITY starring Dev Patel, Jeremy Irons and Stephen Fry.

An Australian film sure to delight audiences will be the bittersweet comedy, A MONTH OF SUNDAYS, starring Anthony LaPaglia, Justine Clarke, Julia Blake and John Clarke.

The best new Australian short films featuring seniors in lead roles will screen in Sydney at the Young At Heart Short Film Awards where an esteemed jury of industry professionals will award the prize for Best Senior Actor. The Short Film program, captioned for the hard of hearing, will visit over 80 regional towns across Australia as a community initiative to celebrate the contribution of senior Australians to film culture.

Festival Director Mathieu Ravier said, “Young At Heart is dedicated entirely to seniors, their friends and relatives. It’s a great opportunity for mature filmgoers to share their love of cinema within the Festival’s fun, accessible and inclusive environment. With more daytime screenings and tickets starting at just six dollars, we’re anticipating our biggest year yet for Young At Heart.”
