Look who’s turning two! Kensington palace “officially excited”

Small children bring fresh air to even the stuffiest of places – and their joy is simply infectious. Reading between the lines of this tweet sent out by Kensington Palace, you can almost hear the excitement as the Duchess of Cornwall put the last details in place for Prince George’s birthday party today.

In it’s excitement, the Palace released a previously unseen picture of Prince George and his dad taken by official photographer Mario Testino, the message has already attracted thousands of birthday wishes for the little man, who is third in line to the throne.

In the picture, George is practically leaping out of his dads arms, and William is grinning like a proud dad. The Duke of Cambridge recently described his spritely almost-two-year-old as a “little monkey”.

Unlike his first birthday, which was celebrated with a party at Kensington Palace with his great-grandmother, the Queen, as guest of honour, and the band of the Irish Guards honking out Happy Birthday, this year’s party promises to be a much more low-key event.

There will be plenty of decorations (his grandma owns an online party planning shop), cake, close friends and family for the private party, which will be held at Mum and Dad’s  country retreat, Anmer Hall.

Prince Charles and Camilla are unable to attend due to previous commitments, but the Middleton grandies will be there to hold George’s chubby hands and clap along to the party songs.

Doesn’t this seem like it happened only moments ago?
