Helen Mirren rocks leather and lace on the red carpet

Helen Mirren has shown style setters around the world a thing or two about fashion with her latest red carpet look in New York – and everyone is loving it!

Proving she’s still as bold as ever, Helen went all out with her amazing ensemble and put many of the other young stars who chose tight and revealing dresses to shame!

The 71-year-old actress walked the red carpet in a gorgeous white lace dress paired with an shiny PVC coat and black heels.

She brought in some colour with her accessories, with a gold and red jewelled ring, earrings and a patterned bag.

The event was for the new BBC TV series ‘Versailles’, which was co-written by Helen’s nephew Simon.

The pair walked the red carpet together and seem to be close, laughing and chatting for most of the night.

It seems that Simon is just as in-awe of his aunt as the rest of the world, saying he loved having her in his corner.

“Helen told me she was overwhelmed [when she watched the show],” he said.

“I was the one on stage, not Helen, and that blew my mind. It was one of the biggest vanity events of my life.”

Apparently, Versailles has love scenes so saucy one Tory MP described it as “porn dressed up in a cravat and tights”.
