This week, Porter Magazine (released in the United States) contains a candid interview with 69-year-old bombshell, Goldie Hawn. E! News shared some of the insights this morning.

Not only is she looking perhaps better than she ever has before, she’s loving life in her 60s. She shared some advice and her opinions on parenting, ageing and relationship – all were interesting and quite beautiful. The question is, do you agree with her?

On parenting…

“What you prepare your children for is to be able to deal with differences, obstacles, ways of handling uncertainty. The truth is, it doesn’t matter what they would have chosen to do, every business changes”.

On mindfulness and her MindUP! Program for children…

“The things we do early in life aren’t always what we will do later. You just keep growing, embracing change, being present with what is. We are the sum total of our life experiences—that’s what builds us; that’s who we become. If we don’t do any personal research or any personality and psychic excavation, we really aren’t growing—we’re only just existing. It is then that we become reactive. So we want to create more awareness in the classroom, more self-awareness and more awareness of others. We build empathy. We tell kids that they actually can help someone else. It gives them strength and purpose and connection with other humans”.

On ageing…

“Getting older is a fact of life. By living mindfully you understand that there are many transitions in life. You just go through them. But it’s wonderful to know you’re ageing, because that means you’re still on the planet, right? It’s all about how you make it. It’s all in your mind”.

On relationships…

“A lasting relationship isn’t about marriage. It’s about compatibility and communication. And you both need to want it to work. If one person does not want it to work, it isn’t going to work. Intention is the key. It’s also about not losing yourself in each other. Being together, two pillars holding up the house and the roof, and being different, not having to agree on everything, learning how to deal with not agreeing. Everything’s a choice”.

So tell us today, do you have similar opinions and beliefs to Goldie? Do you share the same feelings – particularly on ageing? Share your thoughts in the comments below…

  1. Yes she has made some good points. As a parent it is your job to enable the child to function as an adult independently. To chase their own career goals & happiness. There is too much negativity around. I focus on the positive however, not through rose coloured glasses.

  2. Sounds to me like a lady that is totally opposite of her days on Laugh- In. She was a scream, & we loved her. Then movie after movie, & time goes by, & what have you got….. One amazing sheila. She is better than ever. Goldie is golden.

  3. I like your comment about ageing I always and breathing say it is a good thing,,at least I am here on this beautiful earth many of my friends and family did not make it,,I am blessed to have life.

  4. Strangely enough I have exactly the same beliefs and opinions as Goldie and I know from experience (unfortunately) that it is perfectly true – it won’t work unless you BOTH want to work at it.

  5. A lasting relationship isn’t about marriage. I totally agree.

  6. I agree with Goldie, and love her movies. Her relationship seems to have worked for her, not always agreeing with each other, but respecting each other’s opinion. After being married for 49 years I know that things have to change, otherwise we get stale, a change is ax hood as a holiday!!
