Dame Helen Mirren’s exciting role in spy drama revealed

Look out Helen Mirren fans! The Dame is back and this time she’s invading the small screen.

While Helen shot to fame on the television series Prime Suspect, she hasn’t appeared in a TV show since it wrapped 10 years ago.

Now though, Helen is teaming up with the dashing Colin Firth for a new spy series where she will play none other than the chief of MI6.

The show is based on a book series of Charles Cumming’s Thomas Kell spy novels. It will be produced by Colin who will also star alongside Helen. What a couple!

Helen is said to be excited about the role, not only because she gets to hang out with her friend Colin everyday, but because she gets to play a female character that does more than act like the damsel in distress!

The plot of the show already sounds gripping with Helen’s character Amelia Levene causing panic by going missing in Whitehall in London.

Colin will play disgraced veteran spy Kell who is hastily drafted in to track her down across Europe.

Fans are excited not only because of the calibre of the two leading stars, but because since Downton Abbey wrapped people have been crying out for a new British series to sink their teeth into.

Producers are expected to announce the release date of the show soon, so keep your ears and eyes open!

Would you like to watch this show? Will you watch it for Helen or for Colin?
