Can you figure out what is going on in this picture?

A photograph showing a couple embracing on a beach has gone viral thanks to a mind-bending optical illusion created by the man’s board shorts.

The photo was posted to social media website Reddit by a user who captioned it, “my head hurts”.

At a quick glance it’s hard to tell where the man ends and the woman begins as the colours on their clothes blend together to trick the eye.

The photo quickly generated hundreds of comments as people tried to figure out exactly what was going on.

“I don’t like this… it’s messing with me too much,” wrote one commenter, while others wrote dozens of messages venting their frustration over not being able to figure it out.

“I’ve been staring at this for about 20 minutes and I still don’t get it!” said another.

Eventually one commenter came up with the answer.

“His shorts are two colors. White in the middle, black on the outside,” they wrote.

Once you see it it seems kind of obvious, but it definitely takes a while to get your head around!
