We’ve been waiting months for the announcement and it’s finally here: Bert and Patti are grandparents again!

The showbiz couple celebrated the wonderful news with New Idea magazine, and were over the moon to show off their little grandson in a photoshoot.

Bert and Patti’s daughter Lauren and her former Olympic swim star husband Matt Welsh have welcomed their fourth baby, Monty Matthew Newton Welsh:

Monty Matthew takes his middle name from his dad, his late maternal great-grandfather, and his uncle, actor Matthew Newton.

Little Monty was born three weeks early via caesarean at 2.12pm on February 18 at Freemasons Hospital, Melbourne.

The TV couple already had three grandchildren – Sam, eight, Eva, six, and Lola, three – and said Lauren was thrilled when she found out she was pregnant for the fourth time.

‘The pregnancy was a beautiful surprise, but it was pretty busy having three other kids. We didn’t think it was going to happen a fourth time, so we’re thrilled to get a perfect, beautiful child like Monty,’ the 36-year-old revealed to the magazine.

‘It’s fun to have another one. I think it’s very clever of Lauren to have two boys and two girls, with the boys as bookends. She’s a great mother’, said Bert.

It’s been a tough few years for the couple. They’ve both had health scares and have had to stand tall as their son Matthew’s mental health has been in the spotlight again recently.

But now, Bert and Patti Newton have a wonderful reason to smile! We wish them all the best.
