All hail the queen of Australian television

There’s a new queen in our fair commonwealth and her name is Lisa Wilkinson. The enigmatic host proved once again that she is at the top of her game after re-signing as co-host of the Today Show for her ninth year on the couch. At 56 years old she has enjoyed a surge in popularity in recent years due to her quick wit on live television and her ability to hold her own against her enthusiastic co-host Karl Stefanovic.

Lisa found fame at a young age, when at 21 she became the youngest editor in history of Dolly magazine. She went on to become editor of Ita Buttrose’s iconic magazine CLEO and turned it into the number one selling women’s lifestyle magazine per capita in the world – a feat most men and women in her position could only dream about.

Speaking about her return to the Today Show, Lisa said she couldn’t wait to get back to work for another year with her TV family.

“I’ve loved my sleep-ins over the last few weeks and having some great times with Pete and the kids, but I’m looking forward to getting back together with my Today Show family – Karl, the team and all our fabulous viewers,” she said.

“The summer holidays have been all about relaxing so, like the boys, I’ll probably have to shave my beard off too.”

Are you exited to see Lisa return to the Today Show? Who is your favourite morning TV host?
