After singing about them for years, Barbra is penning memories

Despite a glittering 60-year career as a performer and having more fans than Santa Claus, Barbra Streisand has never released an autobiography. Until now.

Viking, an imprint of Penguin Books, has announced it has exclusive rights to publish the timeless Ms Streisand’s memoirs, which she is writing in preparation for a 2017 release.

The Hollywood Reporter is already saying it will be the “blockbuster celebrity memoir of 2017”, and millions of fans young and old will be waiting to snap up a copy.

Others have tried to tell the story of the young girl from Brooklyn, New York, who went on to be the only person to earn Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Directors Guild of America, Golden Globe and Peabody awards, among others.

Announcing the deal, Viking’s president Brian Tart said, “There are over 50 unauthorised biographies about Ms Streisand that are full of myths and inaccuracies, and she is finally going to tell her own story.”

As Time magazine reports, Ms Streisand hit out at a recent unauthorised biographer, writing on her website, “Who is the person described in this book? From what has been told to me, certainly not anyone I know. This stereotypic image bears little resemblance to me or anything about me.”

The Funny Girl star has always loved a bit of nostalgia, from her hit song The Way We Were to covering the Cats song, below.

We just adore Barba Streisand and know you do too, so we wanted to share with you one of our favourite duets she performed with Judy Garland.
