In 1925, Alexander Burrows built 31 Cintra Road, Bowen Hills, as a wedding gift for his fiancée.

Now, after 92 years and five generations, the Burrows family is saying goodbye to the family home according to realestate.com.au.

Burrows may have put his mates to shame with such an extravagant gift, but the four-bedroom Queenslander has stood the test of time, hosting weddings and births alike.

The house could do with a little renovation to bring it into the 21st Century, but there’s plenty of room to work with on the 810m2 block.

In addition to the four bedrooms and two bathrooms, the property also includes a sunroom, formal lounge, study, and dining and family rooms.

High ceilings are present throughout, and polished timber floors are the perfect choice for the dining and family rooms.

The kitchen is probably the area most in need of renovation, with dated cabinetry and flooring, and appliances that have seen better days. But with 15 square metres to work with, the perfect modern kitchen could easily be incorporated.

It wouldn’t take much to modernise most areas of the house, with a little redecorating and some new finishes. The neutral paint palette does wonders for the home, emphasising just how much space is available in every area.

Both the ensuite and the main bathroom are large enough to accommodate a toilet, shower and bath.

The sunroom, which stretches the length of the house, is the perfect place to pull up a chair and enjoy some rays on a cool day.

In the warmer months, the backyard is the perfect place to entertain.

Replacing tired carpets and updating some fixtures will be an easy way to make the house feel more contemporary.

Within four kilometres of the city and 10 minutes’ walk of the nearest train station, it seems like the perfect place to welcome a new family history.

31 Cintra Road will go to auction on Saturday, July 29 2017.

What do you think of this property? What would you do to modernise it?
