6 easy-care perennials for a gorgeous garden with little work

Low-maintenance perennials can thrive in your yard and produce beautiful foliage all season long.

We would all love to have a beautiful garden, but sometimes there is just not enough time to go out and maintain them.

Perennial flowers are the answer to that problem! By using perennials in your garden you can take the hassle out of keeping your plants alive in the summer months.

Once established, they’re gifts that just keep on giving. They may take one or two years to produce their first flowers, but they are worth the wait because they will continue to flower every season for years and years. Many can even live up to 30 years or more.

Chrysanthemums are easy to grow and come in a number of varieties and colours. They love the sunshine and are easy to propagate, which is an added bonus. They are known as one of the easiest plants to grow and can stand the summer heat.

4. Agapanthus

Agapanthus’ are a popular choice for the modern Australian garden. Their unique design and jacaranda blue flowers make them a lovely addition to any yard. Agapanthus can survive most weather conditions and bees adore them, even if they only flower now and again.

5. Daylily

The daylily is well known for being an easy-to -grow perennial. They require little attention and can easily be propagated. Daylilies are hardy, drought-, frost- and wind-tolerant and will thrive in most gardens if they’re well fed, mulched and planted in full sun.

6. Peony

Peony plants are both resilient and attractive; they are also perfect for harvesting a few bouquets. Peony blossoms appear in spring and summer, each year returning with larger flowers than the last. When open, they are a great attractant for bees. When closed, they look stunning around the house.
