We take you all the way back to 1966 today, to remember a very famous Motown recording by a band whose lead singer went on to be named Female Entertainer of the Century by Billboard Magazine 11 years later.

On this day in 1966 The Supremes made the first studio recording of the famous song “You keep me hangin on”. The song became the group’s eighth number-one single when it topped the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart for two weeks in the United States from November 13, 1966 through November 27, 1966.
