Do you remember wearing your ‘Sunday best’?

In the days before disposable fashion, everyone only had one or two outfits for weddings, funerals and the formal events in between.

To buy a new outfit was far more expensive than it is today, in comparison to wages, and making one meant spending hours at the sewing machine. Either way, it wasn’t something usually done lightly to fill a Saturday morning, as shopping can be now.
