What pisses me off… rotten fruit and vegetables from supermarkets

It’s Sunday and you know what pisses me off today… the poor quality of fruit and vegetables at supermarkets.

I remember the bright, crunchy, fresh and delicious fruit and vegetables we used to be able to get oh so effortlessly at supermarkets. Now this kind of quality can only be obtained from overpriced organic farmers markets!

When I go to my local supermarket today it has a limited supply of fruit and vegetables that are wilted, dull, floury and tasteless or only last a couple of days before going off. Signs that it has been frozen or chilled long term.

The big supermarkets seem so focused on cutting costs that they have forgotten what really matters, giving good products to its customers.

Seriously, is it that hard to ask that the retail chains look after their suppliers with reasonable prices and give us a good quality products too?! It seems that they are only interested in squeezing out every cent to give returns year after year to their shareholders.

I miss the good old days when supermarkets had fresh products direct from Australian farms, not frozen and imported from a foreign country because it is cheaper.

Where the fruit and vegetables were fresh, delicious, juicy and not sprayed with chemicals. The stuff that you could eat like it had just been picked from an orchard and that you didn’t have to wash and wash again before giving to children.

It just pisses me off.. and it’s getting worse!

Do you agree? Are the large supermarkets letting us down with the quality of their fruit and veggie products?
