A rant over the impact of Rolf Harris from a man’s perspective

Ian wrote into our site with some concern today.  He is worried that women are unfairly judging men as a whole group after Rolf Harris’ sentencing and other paedophilia affairs. Do you agree with Ian’s perspective?   Read on…

“I would love to put a mans view through with regards to the Rolf Harris case but I am very worried that as a man I might get shot down.

Rolf Harris WAS WRONG and he is paying for it.

But all men aren’t pigs or saints and all women aren’t angels or sinners.

There is not two sides to this story of Rolf Harris.  It is straight out wrong! But Jeez!  I am worried about what this does for the world and how men are trusted, particularly as we get older as people assume all older men are like this, quite unfairly.  No cameras are allowed at sporting events, in case someone is recording something they shouldn’t be.  We even get stared at when we baby sit our kids and grandchildren.

Fact is, I only have eyes for my children and grandchildren.

The world is a sick place. No one, man or woman is perfect, 1% of the population spoil it for 99%.

Innocent until proven guilty is out the door for everyday men I worry.

I am just a little bit worried  and concerned about this subject. Having worked in an office for thirty years I have seen it all and know the problem comes from both genders. Sorry for ranting.”

This piece has now been updated with this addendum…

“There are a larger number of Mr Mums out there at the moment and grandparents providing babysitting services.

I have been looking after my baby granddaughter nearly two full days a week for years now and enjoy every minute I get with her.

The looks you get and having to use disabled toilets for her needs can cause conflict.
I have had numerous disagreements with people over this, my BABY girl is not going into a man’s toilet and I sometimes feel uncomfortable in the mothers rooms, especially if the ladies are breast feeding.

What I am pissed about is, YES Rolf Harris was wrong and is paying for it.    Hey dad star Robert Hughes can wrote in hell  but all men are not deviates as portrayed in a few comments on your site today.

BUT you touch my (4) granddaughters and look out for me and my wheel chair.

I have two son’s and three ex daughter in laws, yes my sons are single and at times over the last few years live at home with us.
I now know why god gave me son’s, I was tough and protective with them.

My 16 year old granddaughter is putting me in an early grave.

The things girls don’t wear today scares me and grandpa tells her, and she loves me for it.”

Ian is keen to hear your feedback on this subject today.
