11 days of Christmas

Dec 22, 2014

On the First Day of Christmas my memory gave to me: the look on your face when I cooked your chocolate cream birthday cake, let you blow out all 65 candles then threw the cake in the bin because your sugar was too high.

On the Second Day of Christmas my memory gave to me: the look on your face when you realised you were not getting any cake.

On the Third Day of Christmas my memory gave to me: the look on your face when you had to wear good clothes and real shoes.

On the Fourth Day Of Christmas my memory gave to me: the look on your face when I threw your new cast net in the Bay but forgot to hold the rope.

On the Fifth Day of Christmas my memory gave to me: the look on your face when you realised the cast net was not coming back.

On the Sixth Day of Christmas my memory gave to me: the look on your face, your cheeky grin and the sound of your laughter.

On the Seventh Day of Christmas my memory gave to me: the look on your face when you said you loved my hair, when we both knew you hated it.

On the Eighth Day of Christmas my memory gave to me: the look on your face and the sparkle in your eyes when you were relaxed and happy.

On the Ninth Day of Christmas my memory gave to me: the look on your face when I would agree to your hair brained ideas.

On the Tenth Day of Christmas my memory gave to me: the look on your face when you were finally able to fix the dunny.

On the Eleventh Day of Christmas my memory gave to me: the look on your face when the nurse put the morphine drip in your stomach, and you realised our story was about to end.

On this day that is Christmas, I remember you with love in my heart and a smile on my face…R.I.P.
