‘I’m a granny-of-three at 25 after marrying a man 34 years my senior’

Age gaps in relationships are nothing new, but they never fail to stir up conversation. Although it may not be palatable for some, it’s not unusual for women to date men 10-20 years older. What about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who were 16 years apart when they were married? Or, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who are 25 years apart in age?

Courtney Thornton, aged 25, who is a step-nan to 59-year-old husband Vann Thornton’s three grandchildren — aged 14, 10 and two — told The Sun how age is irrelevant when it came to getting hot underneath the covers.

“Well, I’ve never met a man who doesn’t want sex. It doesn’t stop working after 50. Everything functions and we have a great time just like any other couple,” she told The Sun’s Fabulous Online.

The couple became a viral sensation after a picture of them, which Courtney captioned #husbandnotdad, went viral on Twitter earlier this year.

The romantic defence of their relationship soon went viral with wives and girlfriends revealing how happy they were with their older fellas.

One Twitter user wrote: “There is nothing wrong with giving your heart to an older man. I am 26 going on 27 and he’s 61 years old. I hope to spend the rest of his life or mine together. I won’t even consider anyone else. If its not him, it will be a solid ‘NO!’ #HusbandNotDad.”

Another added: “I’ve just found the #HusbandNotDad tag, and thought i’d add to it. There’s 20 years between us, but i’m the happiest i’ve ever been with @marcuslaz Wanna know why?! Love, respect, patience, space and lots in common!”

It comes after a 2017 study conducted by Emory University, U.S, found that couples who were far apart in age had a higher likelihood of divorcing.

And according to new research, conducted by University of Colorado Boulder, after six to 10 years of marriage any age-gap satisfaction soon dwindled, but it might have a lot of do with the way they dealt with problems.
