Woolies issues national recall of Halloween product

Woolworths are urging customers who have bought one of its Halloween toys to stop using the item and urgently return to where they purchased it for a full refund. The product, a Halloween LED Spinning Wand, comes with a Halloween Ghost and Pumpkin head.

According to a report published by the ACCC, the toy may crack open when dropped, exposing the button cell batteries. The toys were sold between 28 September and 18 October 2016.

On the Woolworths website, the supermarket giant stated the “product may crack open when dropped exposing the button cell batteries. Ingestion of button cell batteries by young children can cause internal burns which may lead to serious injuries or death,” it also stated.

They also said, “Woolworths apologises to their customers for any inconvenience caused by this recall and if further information is required about the recall they are invited to call our toll-free Customer Service number: 1800 103 515”.
