William Shatner leads charge to help a little boy

He has boldly gone where no one has gone before, well, at least his most famous character has.  What William Shatner has done is help out a struggling dad of an autistic child.

Reed Botwright has a six-year-old son with autism who is super picky about what he eats.  His condition means that no amount of parenting tricks will get him to change his dinner.  The child likes to eat macaroni and cheese, but only the ones with the Star Wars shaped pasta.

When his local store, and the stores for a good distance around him, ran out of this particular food. Reed sent a cry for help from social media.

One of the first to come to his aid was Star Wars rival Star Trek legend William Shatner. Shatner sent out a tweet direct to the manufacture writing, @kraftfoods can you possibly help? Even if you still have just the shaped macaroni they can use current product for cheese sauce.”  That might not seem like much, but when the man has over 2.4million followers, he makes an impact.  He even got a response from Kraft, the makers of the product.

Thanks to Shatner the story spread like wildfire with thousands around the world tweeting and evening putting some of their own care packages together for Reed’s son.

How heart warming is this story?  With so much upsetting news it’s still nice to see a smile shine through.
