Trump's attention span is only four minutes long

Donald Trump will attend the NATO summit next week.

World leaders attending next week’s Nato summit in Brussels have been told to keep their presentations snappy because US president Donald Trump only has a four-minute attention span.

Sources told Foreign Policy magazine it’s common knowledge in the White House that Trump cannot concentrate for more than a few minutes at a time and that all presentations should include maps and graphs and repeat his name to hold his attention.

“It’s kind of ridiculous how they are preparing to deal with Trump,” one source said. “It’s like they’re preparing to deal with a child — someone with a short attention span and mood who has no knowledge of Nato, no interest in in-depth policy issues, nothing. They’re freaking out.”

In the past, Trump has asked his staff to restrict memos to one page and it’s rare for his meetings with them to last longer than 15 minutes, reports The Australian.

The Nato gathering will be the first for Trump, who was a strong critic of the organisation throughout the election campaign, calling them “obsolete”.

He reinforced his views after taking office, saying America was contributing too much funding into the military alliance and that it was time for other members, like France and Germany, to step up.

The report comes after Trump took to Twitter overnight to scold the media once again for their treatment of him and his administration.

“This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!” he wrote, before going on to accuse both the Clinton and Obama administration of committing crimes.

“With all of the illegal acts that took place in the Clinton campaign & Obama Administration, there was never a special counsel appointed!”
