While the election is over and Donald Trump is putting the pieces of his government’s cabinet together, there are still some trying to challenge the election results.

Green Party candidate for President Dr Jill Stein has been pushing for a recount in major states, a move that has been backed by Hillary Clinton. Now it seems less likely to happen as a new lawsuit has been filed to block the recount.
Michigan’s attorney-general Bill Schuette wrote in a statement that any recounts “threatens to silence all Michigan votes for president” and calls Stein’s request “inexcusable”. While Stein’s camp says that the campaign is to ensure the integrity of the voting system and is not targeting at bringing down Trump’s election.
This week as well has seen President-Elect Trump’s lawyers in action as they also have moved to stop any recounts happening in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Hillary Clinton’s team has said they will participate in the recounts if they happen. Trump himself has condemned the recounts saying “The results of this election should be respected instead of being challenged and abused, which is exactly what Jill Stein is doing”.
The President-Elect who said the voting system in America was “rigged” on a daily basis leading up to his victory in November has since changed his tune saying that “The people have spoken and the election is over”. He then added, “We must accept this result and then look to the future.”
Trump also believes that Stein’s move is one of greed saying, “This recount is just a way for Jill Stein, who received less than 1 per cent of the vote overall and wasn’t even on the ballot in many states, to fill her coffers with money, most of which she will never even spend on this ridiculous recount.”
What do you think? Do you think that it’s greed oriented or is Stein just looking to uphold the integrity of the vote? Do you think Trump is against it because the “system is rigged” or is it just a waste of time and money?
