Supermarket giants ‘light speed’ checkout is for a special reason

Have you ever wondered why the Aldi checkout is as fast as a tyre change in a Formula 1 race?  No matter what Aldi store you go to the checkout process is the same.  The cashier will wait for you to get your cart in position and then fire your items at you at breakneck speed.

According to a spokesperson from Aldi, it is done to save you and them money.  Aldi claims that the speed in which they train their employees to scan items makes 40 per cent quicker than their rivals which cut down the cost of operation which they pass on to you in lower costs.

If you visit an Aldi store anywhere in the world, it will be the same. It is part of the Aldi operations guidelines.  An Aldi  spokesperson told the UK’s Sun, “Our employees are trained to operate the checkout at the right pace for each individual person they serve.”
