Social media gets behind William Tyrell on his birthday

The little NSW boy has been missing for nearly three years.

Today marks William Tyrell’s sixth birthday and Australia is doing its best to show their support for the young boy, who has been missing since 2014.

Facebook page Where’s William Tyrell shared a special message for him and his family and called on people to light a “candle of love and hope” in his name.

“Today marks 1019 days since William’s Mum and Dad last held their precious little boy,” the message reads.

“Today, we will think of William, his family and all the children who are missing, and when we light a candle for William, we’ll be sending a message of love, support and continued hope to them all.”

The message has already been shared more than 10,000 times with hundreds of comments filling the post.

“Happy Birthday William — Australia knows you should be home celebrating and opening those presents, we are all praying that someone will speak up to get you home,” wrote Yolande Lennox.

“Happy birthday little man wishing and praying that today would be the day u will be reunited with your family will be thinking of you all day and will light 6 candles for every year of your precious life,” wrote Learnie Fewkes.

William disappeared from his grandmother’s backyard on September 12, 2014. Police have searched tirelessly in the hopes of finding him and have appealed to the public for help.
