Queen in a fit of giggles as she jokes around with Charles

Queen Elizabeth jokes around with her eldest son Prince Charles.

We’re used to seeing the Queen put on a formal display in public, but the Royal Monarch was all giggles as she spent time with her family in Scotland on Saturday.

The Queen was joined by her husband Prince Philip, her daughter Princess Ann and her eldest son Prince Charles, who entertained her with his hilarious antics as they watched the annual Braemar Gathering — the biggest event in the Highland Games calendar.

The royal family watched competitors as they danced and took part in events such as the hammer throw and javelin.

While there was plenty to watch on the field, the Queen was kept thoroughly entertained by Prince Charles who had her in a fit of giggles with his jokes and commentary.

The Gathering is one of the last official royal engagement’s for the summer calendar and was the first time Prince Philip has attended a public event since retiring from royal life.

The 96-year-old looked thrilled to be out and about with his family again for fun-filled day of Scottish entertainment.

The Gathering is held each year just a short distance from Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, where the royals spend their holidays.

It has a long history and dates back more than 200 years in its modern form.

The Gathering raises money to support local heritage and is attended by thousands from all over Britain each year.
