Prince William shows his wild side in motorcycle leathers

The Duke of Cambridge has always loved motorcycles.

Normally known for his clean-cut look and royal elegance, Prince William shocked onlookers yesterday as he swapped his tailored suits for motorcycle gear.

The Duke of Cambridge visited Triumph Motorcycles in Hinckley in central England to test-ride a few of their motorbikes and check out the manufacturing process. Prince William, an avid motorcycle enthusiast, posed with many of the bikes on display – cutting quite a different figure. A picture on the official Kensington Royal Instagram page shows Prince William posing on top of a stylish motorcycle, looking determined, yet still wearing his formal clothing.

People were quick to remark on the royal Instagram page that the prince should have worn a leather jacket instead. Followers prayers were answered when he ended up donning a leather jacket later when he took a test ride on one of the motorbikes.

During the visit, the Duke of Cambridge toured the Triumph factory, had a chat with technicians and walked the assembly line. Showing he was a man of the people he even made time to chat with a few apprentices as well.

While he was there, the Duke of Cambridge also had the honour of officially opening the Triumph Motorcycles Factory Visitor Experience, which showcases a collection of Triumphs historic and modern achievements in motorcycle design, engineering, and racing.

After he completed his tour of Triumph Motorcycles, The Duke of Cambridge visited the HORIBA MIRA Technology Park to learn more about world-class British vehicle manufacture and research.

The trip would have been a real treat for Prince William who only last year remarked he would be giving up his motorcycling to focus on his family.

In December 2017 Prince William revealed to triple World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea at Buckingham Palace that he had to put his passion for motorbike riding on hold as prepared to welcome his third child.

Prince William received his motorcycle license at age 19 and shares his passion for bikes with brother Prince Harry. The two participated in a motorcycle rally across Africa in 2008 to raise money for charity.

Are you a bit of a motorcycle enthusiast? What was your first bike?
