Pippa Middleton and James Matthews’ baby name revealed: Reports

She gave birth to her first son last month and according to reports, Pippa Middleton has finally revealed the name of her son.

The sister of the Duchess of Cambridge and her husband James Matthews have named their first child Arthur Michael William Matthews, according to the Mail on Sunday. According to the report, the middle name of Michael was given in honour of Pippa’s father, as well as her husband’s younger brother who sadly passed away in 1999.

Royalists will also know that Arthur is the middle name of Prince William, Prince Charles, as well as Prince Louis. Other reports suggest the second middle name of William was given as a nod to Pippa’s brother-in-law, Prince William.

Pippa and James welcomed their first son on October 15 at 13:58 BST. He weighed 8lb 90z and a spokesperson confirmed the safe arrival at the time. Pippa gave birth at St Mary’s hospital in London, which is the same hospital where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their children.

“James and Pippa have had a baby boy,” the spokesperson confirmed shortly after the birth. “Everyone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well.”

Kensington Palace also released a statement from Prince William and Catherine.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are thrilled for Pippa and James,” the statement read.

Baby Arthur is the cousin of five-year-old Prince George, three-year-old Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who was born six months ago. The couple have not yet publicly released a photo of Arthur. 

Pippa, 35, originally confirmed she was expecting her first child in a magazine column for British supermarket Waitrose in June. In the article, the socialite said she hadn’t experienced morning sickness like her sister. Pippa, the younger sibling of Catherine, became a household name after appearing in Catherine’s bridal party in 2011.

Arthur will also have a new playmate next year when Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex welcome their first baby. The royal couple announced they were expecting last month during their tour of Australia.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public,” a statement from Kensington Palace said.

Their baby is expected to arrive in the British spring in 2019, although the palace hasn’t confirmed a due date or month. Harry and Meghan had spoken openly in the past about their desire to start a family.

Meanwhile, Arthur’s older cousin Louis featured in a stunning official photo last week. In the picture, the tiny tot was spotted in his mother’s arms as he played with proud grandfather Prince Charles.
