She’s just a few months away from welcoming her third child into the world and it looks like the Duchess of Cambridge is well and truly done trying to hide her growing baby bump.

The 36-year-old was spotted out and about in London yesterday as she continues to carry on with her royal engagements. Kensington Palace confirmed that Catherine visited both King’s College London and the Mother and Baby Unit at the Bethlem Royal Hospital on the rainy London day.

The focus of her trip was to shine a spotlight on the challenges of becoming a mother and the mental health issues that can come with that. Given that she’s set to give birth in April, it’s understandably an issue that’s very close to her heart.

During the visit, the mother-of-two interacted with other mothers who discussed their mental health with the royal. She also spoke with health professionals and the work they’re currently doing in perinatal research.

She also used her visit as an opportunity to discuss what kinds of support are currently available for new mothers and what happens when patients are treated in the facility. Her visit comes just days after she launched the Heads Together initiative to change the way people think and talk about mental health.

For her visit, the pregnant royal wore a stunning light blue coat that showed off her own baby bump. She wore her luscious brown locks in a ponytail for the outing and completed her look with a sophisticated Seraphine dress.

Photos of her trip were shared on social media. “Today The Duchess of Cambridge visited King’s College London and The Mother and Baby Unit at the Bethlem Royal Hospital to find out more about the challenges and issues surrounding maternal mental health,” the Kensington Royal account wrote. “The Duchess received a briefing on work being done in perinatal research, spoke to professionals about how they support new mothers, and spent time with patients undergoing treatment.”

It comes a day after the Duchess of Cambridge gave an emotional speech at the Roe Green Junior School in London to launch a Mentally Healthy School website. “My own commitment is to the youngest and most vulnerable in their early years – babies, toddlers and schoolchildren – and to support all those who care for them,” she said during her speech.

What do you think of the work the Duchess is doing? Does more need to be done to support new mums and their mental health?
