They’ve been forced to face a barrage of rumours about their friendship in recent weeks – but despite sensational claims that Meghan and Catherine are ‘not close’, the Duchess of Cambridge reportedly became overwhelmed with emotion ahead of her new sister-in-law’s wedding.

According to the Telegraph, Catherine broke down in tears while watching her daughter Princess Charlotte being fitted for her bridesmaid dress for Meghan and Prince Harry’s wedding earlier this year.

According to the news outlet, two sources reported that the royal struggled to contain her emotions at the fitting, with one insider explaining: “Kate had only just given birth to Prince Louis and was feeling quite emotional.”

Indeed, mum-of-three Catherine gave birth to Louis on April 23 – less than a month before the royal wedding on May 19 – so her emotions will have been at an all time high.

The claims come as both Catherine and Meghan were hit with rumours over their friendship recently, after it was revealed that Harry and his new wife will be moving out of Kensington Palace and in to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

“Windsor is a very special place for Their Royal Highnesses and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate,” Kensington Palace confirmed in a statement at the time. “The Duke and Duchess’s office will continue to be based at Kensington Palace.”

It sparked a series of bizarre claims that there had been a falling out between the princes’ wives, with one source even telling the Mail On Sunday: “Kate and Meghan are very different people. They don’t really get on.”

However, these claims have never been addressed by the royal family and Rickard Palmer, royal correspondent at the Daily Express, has since denied there was ever a “big fallout”.

He tweeted: “The story behind Harry and Meghan’s move to Frogmore Cottage? Harry and Meghan spreading their wings. No big fallout but Kate and Meghan not close. No.”

Frogmore Cottage is currently undergoing a large refurbishment to transform it from staff accommodation to a family home.

The property has a special meaning to the soon to be parents as it is where they held their private wedding party and had their beautiful engagement photos taken.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to welcome their first child in the UK spring.

The pair haven’t officially released any potential names for their unborn child yet, but Prince Charles joked recently that Harry and Meghan could take inspiration from their recent royal tour to Australia.

While William and Kate chose very royal names for their children, the 70-year-old hinted that his other son might go down a different path, The Mirror reported at the time.

Speaking at a reception celebrating the centenary of Australia House in London, the Prince of Wales claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have quite a long list of potential names since their trip down under. And some iconic Australian names could even make it to the top.

“Incidentally ladies and gentlemen my son Harry tells me that during their recent tour of Australia, he and his wife were offered countless thoughtful suggestions for the naming of their forthcoming baby,” he told the crowd of Aussies and UK residents.

“Just between us, I suspect that Kylie and Shane may possibly make the shortlist”. Charles was of course making reference to Aussie singer Kylie Minogue and cricketer Shane Warne.”

What do you think of Harry and Meghan’s decision to move into their own home, away from William and Catherine?
