Princess Mary and her four children bore witness to a sicking accident in Copenhagen at the weekend after a man fell from his horse during a high-speed cross country event.

Mary and her children were watching the Hubertus Hunt race from the Hermitage Palace balcony when the man came off his horse and was thrown the ground where he lay without moving for several moments, reports the Daily Mail.

The family appeared distressed by the incident and were seen covering their faces with their hands in shock.

An ambulance soon arrived at the scene and loaded the man onto a stretcher before taking him away.

It was a tense moment in an otherwise enjoyable day for the royal family, who were all smiles up until the accident.

Young Prince Vincent, who was pictured crying when his mum dropped him off at his first day of school this year, stayed close to Mary all day and cuddled up to her as he watched the horses raced by them.

Mary’s other three children, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella and Princess Josephine seemed content cheering on the riders taking in the spectacle from their prime position on the balcony.

Are you a fan of the Danish royals? Have you ever witnessed a horrible accident?
