Prince Harry rumoured to be dating American actress

Prince Harry has always had his love life under scrutiny, and has been vocal about wanting to find love. Is it possible he has?

According to The Sun, Prince Harry is rumoured to be secretly dating Meghan Markle, an American actress. She has also reportedly already met and won the approval of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

A source close to Harry, 32, told the Sunday Express: “He’s happier than he’s been for many years. He’s in a very relaxed period of his life and Meghan has come along at the right time.”

The source said: “William and Kate really liked her and she fitted in straight away. They are taking each week as it comes and just enjoying each other’s company but it’s fair to say that they love seeing each other and there’s a definite chemistry between them.”

The source continued: “It’s too early to say if the relationship will lead to anything long-term but who knows? At the moment they are just taking it a step at a time and seeing how things develop.”

Kensington Palace would not comment on the rumoured romance as it’s a “private matter”.

Born in Los Angeles, the actress now lives in Toronto where the show that has made her famous, Suits, is filmed – and it is said that the pair crossed paths when Harry was visiting Toronto to promote his Invictus Games. 

The pair both share a passion for humanitarian work, with Markle working for several organisations including World Vision Canada and the United Nations.

She also has visited Afghanistan to support US soldiers and their families.

Prince Harry has had a couple of relationships break down in the past because of public scrutiny – specifically, his relationships with Cressida Bonas and Chelsy Davy, who were both uncomfortable in the limelight.

The source said: “Harry has been desperate to keep the relationship quiet because he doesn’t want to scare Meghan off. He knows things will change when their romance is public knowledge but he also knows he can’t keep it a secret for long.”

Although she has kept quiet, Meghan posted a photo on Instagram in which she wears a blue bracelet almost identical to one of Harry’s, fuelling conversation about their rumoured relationship on social media. She was in the UK this month, staying at private members club Soho Farmhouse in the Oxfordshire countryside.

The daughter of an African-American mother and a father of Dutch and Irish descent, Meghan spent time on film sets as a child because her father Thomas was a lighting director, working on the hit series Married With Children.

The source added: “Harry loves to hear about Meghan’s humanitarian work and he thinks she’s doing a fantastic job. She is sassy, smart and vivacious and he just adores her love of life. There is a definite meeting of minds between them as well as a physical attraction. The romance is in its early stages but it’s no exaggeration to say he’s besotted with her.”
