Just one day after she released a video slamming rival politician Bill Shorten as “terrible”, Pauline Hanson has now accused the Labor leader of “spewing lies” to voters.

Speaking to Starts at 60, the Senator for Queensland, blasted the leader of the opposition over his past performance as Workplace Minister and said Australian jobs won’t be safe if Labor is elected into government.

Hanson said she wanted to highlight the “hypocrisy” of Shorten’s previous actions, claiming he gave away 68,000 jobs to foreign workers between 2012 and 2013, during his stint in Jullia Gillard’s cabinet.

“I get sick to death of the lies Labor and Bill Shorten frequently spew to the public,” she told Starts at 60. “They are the bullies of politics in this country and like most bullies, they’re weak and have a history of failings that negate their lies and false accusations.”

On Wednesday the Senator shared a new One Nation campaign video on Twitter, which claims that Shorten gave away more than 68,000 jobs between 2012 and 2013, during his stint in Julia Gillard’s Cabinet. It comes ahead of the Super Saturday by-elections, which are due to take place on July 28.

The 53-second clip lists a series of alleged statistics from Shorten’s time as minister for employment and workplace relations. It claims: “In just one year while Bill Shorten was workplace minister, he gave away 7870 construction jobs to foreigners. Over a 12 month period Bill Shorten gave away 4,630 mining jobs to overseas workers. And in that same year, Bill Shorten gave away another 6,790 accommodation and food service jobs to foreigners.

“The fact is it only took one year for Bill Shorten to give away over 68,480 Australian jobs to foreigners. That’s so unfair Bill. Bill Shorten and Labor says one thing to working Australians and another thing to his corporate mates. Stop Bill Shorten’s lies. Don’t vote Labor.”

Hanson went on to say that the Labor party, along with the current government, are responsible for the high immigration numbers. She said: “To be fair, the failings of this country’s high immigration numbers rest squarely on the shoulders of both major parties.

“We have opened up the flood gates to immigration through over 100 visa categories, free trade agreements and hundreds of thousands of foreign students who are eligible to work a minimum of 40 hours a fortnight when they come here to study. I can tell you now, we have plenty of Australians willing to work and re-skill themselves to fill the jobs in this country without unnecessarily bringing in foreign workers.”

A Labor spokesperson added: “Pauline Hanson is desperate to distract from the her unity ticket with Turnbull on cuts to penalty rates, schools and hospitals.

“Pauline pretends to stand up for workers – but she sells them out every time. She voted against protecting penalty rates and she backs Turnbull’s handout to the top end of town. Bill’s spent his whole life fighting for workers to get better pay and conditions.

“Everyone knows that a vote for Hanson is a vote for Turnbull and his cuts to local hospitals and workers’ take home pay.

What do you think? Do you agree with Pauline Hanson? Or is she trying to distract from herself, as Labor say?
