Loyal Trump voters call for impeachment after immigration backflip

Many of Trump's supporters are turning on him following the immigration deal.

One of the the campaign promises that resulted in Donald Trump’s 2016 election win was his hardline stance against immigration. But now, voters who were enticed by his policies are angry and turning against the president, with some going so far as to call for his impeachment following his recent backflip on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy.

The Trump administration officially reported last week that it would be putting an end to the policy made by the Obama administration, which protects illegal arrivals who were brought into the US as young children from deportation, however on Thursday Trump tweeted his support of such immigrants in an apparent backflip after meeting with Democratic leaders to discuss immigration.

“Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military? Really!” Trump tweeted in a rare show of compassion.

“Plus BIG border security.”

It made a stark contrast to his tweet immediately prior, which denied any deal was reached on DACA.

But now, previously loyal Trump supporters are angry, believing the president they elected is not following through on his election promises of tough immigration policies, as well as border protection.

Readers of the conservative Breitbart News tore into Trump in the comments of a critical story on the president.

“Put a fork in Trump. He is done,” one commenter wrote.

“If this is true that Trump is in favour of the Dream Act, in direct violation of his repeated promises, then, patriots, it is time to treat Trump the same way we treated Obama. We will fight him, make him a one-term failure and go to all-out political war,” another said.

Even Ann Coulter, a conservative US commentator who believed in Trump so much so that she wrote a book titled ‘In Trump we trust’ went so far as to call for his impeachment.

“At this point, who DOESN’T want Trump impeached?” she tweeted.

“If we’re not getting a wall, I’d prefer President Pence.”

What are your thoughts? Is is good to see Trump showing some more compassion, or are his critics in this instance right to be angry?
