Palace releases glowing new portrait of Queen Elizabeth

The Royals have released a portrait for the long-reigning Queen.

The Queen has sat for dozens of portraits throughout her life, but her latest has to be one of the best yet.

The Royal Palace released the new image to mark Canada Day.

The Queen is surrounded by lavish gold in the photo and is wearing a gorgeous gold dress to match.

She is also sporting a family broach that was given to her mother by her father King George VI when the couple visited Canada in 1939 at the beginning of his reign.

The release comes in the middle of Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall’s three-day tour of Canada.

The pair have been meeting with military families, visiting farmer’s markets and taking in the sights of the Commonwealth state.

Earlier today, the Palace announced that Prince Charles had been awarded an Extraordinary Companion of the Order of Canada.

He has been invited to accept his medal in person at a ceremony to be held later this year.

What do you think of the Queen’s new portrait? Do you think she’s served the Commonwealth well?
