Olivia Newton-John and Bindi Irwin unite against cancer

They’re two of Australia’s golden girls and two of your favourite Aussies – and now Olivia Newton-John and Bindi Irwin have joined forces to raise money for cancer research.

The 67-year-old Grease star and the khaki-clad wildlife warrior joined hands and walked together during the Wellness Walk and Research Run in Melbourne yesterday.

As you might remember, Olivia Newton-John survived a battle against breast cancer back in 1992.

You might not know it, but she was given her cancer diagnosis the same weekend her father died of liver cancer.

Since then she’s been an advocate for cancer research, forming the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre which organises the Wellness Walk.

Bindi and Olivia appeared in good spirits, smiling and laughing for the cameras at the finish line of the event.

The pair were also supported by their partners – Olivia’s husband John Easterling and Bindi’s boyfriend Chandler Powell.

Earlier that day, Olivia appeared on Weekend Sunrise and spoke about her gratitude at being healthy 20 years after her cancer battle.

‘I’m very grateful that now 25 years later I’m healthy and happy and of course it gave me great passion and desire to help other people going through cancer which led me to lend my name to the Cancer Wellness Centre in Melbourne,” she said.

‘I believe one day we will have the cure and it’ll be over. That’s my dream.”

She also spoke highly of Bindi Irwin during the interview.

“I’m so grateful to Bindi. I just saw her and she kindly came today and that’s going to add so much to the day so we’re thrilled that she’s here,” she said.

And on a side note, she also spoke of those crazy fan theories about Grease.

“I think it’s hilarious and I think if that is the case we were probably the first zombie musical,” she said with a laugh.
