She may have got plenty of loving birthday wishes from her celebrity mates as she celebrated her 50th, but Nicole Kidman’s a down-to-earth Aussie girl at heart who valued the time she spent with her family the most.
Turning the big 5-0 on June 20 saw the actress showered in so much love and attention that Twitter devoted a whole ‘Moments’ page to hosting best-wishes tweets to Kidman, including those from fellow stars such as long-time best friend Naomi Watts, actress Reese Witherspoon (her co-star on the HBO hit series Big Little Lies) and designer Jean Paul Gautier, who called her “the sparkling diamond”.

But the star was most enthusiastic about the gorgeous bouquet and huge cake she received from her family, posting of her joy on Facebook overnight. “Nothing makes me happier than being with my family,” Kidman wrote.
The actress would like be welcoming the small bit of down-time with her loved ones, having just had a hectic week of premieres at the Cannes Film Festival, then on to social events in the US, and now the launch of her latest movie The Beguiled. The thriller, directed by Sophia Coppola, is about a girls school in Virginia that takes in a wounded Union soldier during the Civil War of the 1860s in the US.
“Soon, the house is taken over with sexual tension, rivalries, and an unexpected turn of events,” according to imdb. Kidman, pictured below at a launch party for the movie, plays one of the school mistresses, Miss Martha, while Irish actor Colin Farrell plays the soldier John McBurney.
