People are paying how much to have breakfast with Lisa Wilkinson?

Lisa Wilkinson may be off our screens (for now), but it seems that the former Channel Nine presenter is having no trouble in the popularity stakes.

Since her dramatic departure from the Today show, Wilkinson has ben continuously applauded for being a role model for women in demanding equal (or perhaps, if some reports are to be believed, better) pay than co-host, Karl Stefanovic.

And now it turns out that people who’re missing seeing her every breakfast time are forking out $150 to eat breakfast by her side.

The 57-year-old will speak at an event organised by all-female support-network Business Chicks at the Weinstein Hotel in Sydney in December.

Fans are being asked to spend between $129 to $159 a head, or $1,390 for a table of 10, to share a coffee with the former breakfast host at the two-hour event.

Business Chicks founder Emma Isaacs told the Daily Telegraph that 400 tickets had already been snapped up.

“There’s a lot of interest in Lisa and her story,” Issacs said. “Lisa was an obvious choice for us. she symbolises all that Business Chicks stands for, powerful women having the courage to speak up, and owning their achievements either in their careers or businesses.”

High-profile celebrities, including Nicole Kidman, Nigella Lawson, Turia Pitt and Ariana Huffington, will join Wilkinson at the event.

The former Today host abruptly quit the Nine network in October over a much-publicised pay dispute. She was reportedly offered a $1.8 million package but wanted $2.3 million instead, $300,000 more than her former co-host, Stefanovic.

Wilkinson will join the panel on The Project, instead, as well as taking on a senior editorial and hosting role at Network Ten in 2018.

What are you thoughts on this? Would you pay this much to dine with Lisa Wilkinson?
