IKEA is known for its self-assembly furniture, discount prices, and meatballs. While the design of their furniture is always impressive (How do they manage to get all the parts and an Alan key in the box?), it’s their new designers that are causing people to smile.
The Swedish furniture giant decided to go to the source for its new line of soft toys. They asked children all over the world for their ideas for a new range called Soft Toys for Education. They encouraged kids to put crayons and coloured pencils to paper to come up with the toys.
Out of the thousands of submissions, IKEA has named it’s ten winners and their drawings will come to life in soft toy style. A percentage of the toys sale will go to Unicef and Save the Children charities as part of their annual fundraiser.
Since they started this contest in 2003, IKEA has donated more than $90 million to global children causes.
