David Cassidy ‘critical’, suffering from ‘multiple organ failure’

David Cassidy, star of The Partridge Family, has been hospitalised with organ failure according to several reports. The 67-year-old actor and musician was rushed to a Florida hospital three days ago and placed in an induced coma after being in failing health for the past two months.

The Blast writes that sources have said Cassidy is still “in and out of consciousness” after waking from his induced coma. The star reportedly needs an urgent liver transplant and is also suffering from kidney failure.

His family have been told to “prepare for the worst” according to sources, and is currently gathered by Cassidy’s bedside during this difficult time.

Cassidy, who starred as Keith Partridge in the musical-sitcom alongside Shirley Jones, has been open about his battle with substance abuse over the years.

After being charged with drink-driving three times, he admitted in 2014 that he had been struggling with alcoholism for years and has been to rehab multiple times to try and get back in control.

Earlier this year, Cassidy told People that he was living with dementia, a disease that runs in his family. Both his grandfather and mother had passed away after a long struggle with the condition.

“I was in denial, but a part of me always knew this was coming,” he said, announcing that he would stop touring in order to focus on his health and continue to live life to the fullest.
