We’ve all had issues with our post at some point, from missed parcels to lost letters or wrong address – but one customer was left reeling after an Australia Post delivery driver refused to deliver mail to his property because his front yard was.

The disgruntled postie left handwritten notes on several pieces of Johnson Ong’s mail asking the homeowner to “clean the area in front of the letter box” and said the rocks in the nature strip caused issues for him.

Ong, who lives in Melbourne, shared the messages on the Australia Post Complaints Facebook Page, alongside a photo of his seemingly problematic lawn, which he claims has been the same for the past 12 years.

“Good morning. I won’t be delivering anymore if front of yard is not clear one metre in front and one metre side of letterbox. Thank you”, one of the notes said.

However Facebook users were quick to question what the driver’s issue was, with one claiming the postie’s response was “ridiculous”, while another said the onus should fall on the local council to rectify any problems with the nature strip.

The unhappy customer also shared a series of messages between himself and Australia Post, in which the customer service operator assured Ong they had contacted the delivery centre manager to understand what was happening.

However another message shows a customer service agent, named only as Liam M, defending the postie’s actions: “Looking at the photo of your mailbox, the area around it is not clear. I apologise if you think the driver is threatening you however they are entitled to ride across nature strips.”

Ong shared a total of four photos showing pieces of mail he’d had delivered with handwritten comments from the delivery driver, who had even numbered the correspondence to indicate how many times they had raised the issue.

An Australia Post spokesperson told Yahoo 7 that they were working with the homeowner to “improve access to the letterbox'”.

This isn’t the first time Australia Post has made headlines due to complaints from unhappy customers, as earlier this week Starts at 60 reported that a mum was left stunned when she answered the front door to find her postie taking a leak off her balcony.

Catherine Skinner, from the NSW Central Coast, was slow to answer the door after hearing the Australia Post worker knocking, because the noise startled her dog whose barking then woke up her two-year-old daughter. However, when she did make it to the front porch she couldn’t believe her eyes as the postie was relieving himself over the edge of her balcony.

Then to make matters worse the brazen delivery driver turned to her with his fly still unzipped and tried to hand over the parcel and a pen without washing his hands.

What do you think? Is the customer’s garden problematic, or do you think the delivery driver is in the wrong?
