Coles and Woolworths recall staple item amid safety concerns

If you’ve purchased your bread at Coles or Woolworths recently you might want to take it back, with more than a dozen types of bread products being recalled after small metal pieces were found inside.

In total there are 17 products being recalled, including Coles’ White Round Rolls six-pack, Might Soft Hot Dog six-pack and IGA Bakers Oven Hamburger Roll six-pack.

The products were purchased at various Coles, Woolworths, Metcash/IGA, convenience stores and various food outlets throughout New South Wales and the ACT.

You’re looking for a Best Before date of October 2, 2016.

“This recall is the result of the potential presence of foreign matter — metal pieces — which may cause injury if consumed,” the NSW Food Authority says.

  • Coles White Long Roll six-pack, plastic film
  • Mighty Soft Hot Dog six-pack, plastic film
  • Mighty Soft Hamburger 5″ six-pack, plastic film
  • IGA Bakers Over White Round Roll six-pack, plastic film
  • IGA Bakers Oven Hamburger Roll six-pack, plastic film
  • IGA Bakers Over Hot Dog Roll six-pack, plastic film
  • Hot Dog six-pack Top Slice, plastic film
  • Hamburger Jumbo 5′ 12-pack bulk, plastic film
  • UB White Round Batch Roll six-pack, plastic film
  • UB White SD SUB six-pack, plastic film
  • UB White SD Round Roll 4″ six-pack, plastic film
  • UB White Hot Dog Roll 7″ six-pack, plastic film
  • UB AMERICAN SLD 5″ Hamburger Roll six-pack, plastic film
  • UB White SUB six-pack, plastic film
  • “Consumers should not eat this product,” the authority says. “If you are concerned about your health you should seek medical advice.”

    Purchasers are advised to review date codes and contact the Goodman Fielder Consumer Advisory Centre on 1800 810 599 to obtain a full refund.
