Rod Stewart rings in New Year with moving ‘Auld Lang Syne’ rendition

He may be 72 years old but Rod Stewart still knows how to delight his fans.

The British rock singer has rung in the New Year with a moving rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’.

Taking to social media, the ‘Forever Young’ singer uploaded a truly heartfelt version of the popular song.

“A very special message to ring in your 2018,” he captioned the video on Twitter.

The singer then began to sing the lyrics to the song, which is commonly sang as the world says goodbye to an old year and welcomes the new one.

“Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind,” he sang.

He also used the short clip as a way of wishing his fans well for 2018.

Many took it as a chance to wish their Idol all the best for the year ahead.

One fan wrote: “I wish you a very warm and joyful new year. May your journey always bring in many memorable times. God bless you with love and care.”

2018 is set to be a massive year for Stewart.

In June, he will return to Las Vegas to continue his residency at The Colosseum at the world-famous Caesars Palace.
