It was one of the most lavish events on the British calendar but it’s fair to say some of the older stars outshone the up-and-comers at this year’s Pride of Britain Awards.

Everyone from TV stars to singers and the Royal family were in attendance of the event.

We couldn’t help noticing that some of the stars we grew up with brought their a-game to the red carpet.

Perhaps most notable was Rod Stewart and his model wife, Penny Lancaster.

Ever the rocker, Stewart opted for a loud leopard-print suit jacket for the red carpet.

If that wasn’t enough, his shoes even matched his outfit.

The ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?’ hit-maker completed his look with his trademark spikey hair, while his wife chose to keep things a little simpler with a shiny floral number.

The flamboyancy at the event didn’t stop there, with Dame Joan Collins channelling her best Jack Sparrow.

The iconic English actress almost looked like a pirate as she smiled and waved to cameras in a white, puffy sleeved top.

The 84-year-old proved she still had in in her as she opted for a glistening black skirt for the star-studded event.

If anyone over the age of 80 was going to pull sequins off, it was Collins.

She wore her hair down and matched her look with a chunky necklace, rings and earrings.

Perhaps the most emotional part of the night was when Prince William took to the stage to honour the victims of the tragic Manchester terror attack.

The Duke of Cambridge was joined by survivors of the tragedy that killed 22 people.

A bomb exploded at an Ariana Grande pop concert, triggering one of the biggest terrorist attacks the UK has ever seen.

William thanked all the heroes who helped saved lives, telling them: “I can’t take my hat off enough to how brave you have been.”

Prior to his speech, William also took to the red carpet to meet and greet fans.

He looked handsome in a royal navy tux. Kate Middleton, who is pregnant with the couple’s third child, did not attend the event.

The Pride of Britain Awards are held annually and strive to shine a spotlight on Brits who make the world a better place.
