It’s been a rocky 12 months for Michael Bublé and his family. His son, Noah, was diagnosed with liver cancer in November last year, causing his parents to swiftly pull out of many commitments to spend more time with the four-year-old and support him throughout his cancer treatment.
But now Bublé will perform for the first time since Noah’s cancer diagnosis. We still have a while to wait for the Canadian crooner; he’ll be headlining the British Summer Time in Hyde Park in July 2018, according to his official Twitter account.
“Michael will be headlining London’s @BSTHydePark on Friday 13th July — His only UK show in 2018! Tickets go on sale 9am Friday,” the tweet read.
The announcement was accompanied by a one-minute video of some of Bublé’s most popular concert performances, kicking things off with the iconic “Feeling Good” track that made him so famous.
While the announcement on Twitter said that it would be Bublé’s only UK tour date, there’s no word yet on whether he will be returning to the stage in Canada or somewhere else close to home.
Fans were excited to hear the news, with many already investigating ticket prices and others saying that they’re still praying for Bublé and his family.
“Love hearing this because if Michael is performing, his son must be continuing to do well,” one devoted fan wrote.
Others were quick to speculate on whether or not Bublé would be able to stand the summer heat; his ever-popular Christmas classics have led many to tease that he’s better suited to colder weather.
“I thought you were frozen all year to be kept fresh for Christmas time???” one person joked.
In July, Bublé’s wife, Argentinean actress and model Luisana Lopilato, announced that “the worst is over” but admitted that recovery would be a “long and ongoing process”.
Bublé has remained far more tight-lipped over the past year, making a brief appearance in June to receive the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award in his home country of Canada. During his acceptance speech, Bublé gave an emotional tribute to his wife, family, and manager for their support during the process.
“There are no words to describe how I feel about you,” Bublé said. “Sometimes ‘I love you’ just isn’t enough because what I feel is so much more.”
Lopilato and Bublé made a public appearance in September for the premiere of Lopilato’s newest film, Los Que Aman, Odian.
