Lee Majors pays tribute to Six Million Dollar Man boss

Six Million Dollar Man star Lee Majors has paid tribute to his co-star and on-screen boss Richard Anderson, who died on Thursday aged 91.

Majors and Anderson starred in the hit ‘70s show together for over four years and were close friends off-screen.

Majors said in a statement that he’d spoken to Anderson just six weeks ago and described him as a “sweet, charming man”.

“Richard became a dear and loyal friend, and I have never met a man like him,” the 78-year-old actor said.

“I called him ‘Old Money.’ His always stylish attire, his class, calmness and knowledge never faltered in his 91 years. He loved his daughters, tennis and his work as an actor,” Majors added.

Anderson also starred in The Bionic Woman with Lindsay Wagner, who said expressed her sadness at his passing.

“I can’t begin to say how much I have always admired and have been grateful for the elegance and loving friendship I was blessed to have with Richard Anderson,” she said.

Anderson found fame in the 1950s in a series of hit films, including The Student Prince as Lucas (1954), Forbidden Planet (1956), as Chief Engineer Quinn, and the World War I drama Paths of Glory (1957).

But he became a household name thanks to the Six Million Dollar Man, for which he provided the voiceover of the iconic introduction: “Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world’s first bionic man.”
