Aussie tennis star Bernard Tomic has continued his spectacular fall from grace, bombing out of a Wimbledon qualifier with claims of a tummy bug.
The 25-year-old has been in the spotlight from a young age, partly due to his amazing talent on the court but mostly, unfortunately for his bad attitude and lately, disinterest in the sport.
In what was a surprising turn of events, the currently ranked 162 young gun, was smashed by Belgian player Ruben Bemelmans in only three sets, going down 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 in the final qualifying round, meaning he will miss the English grass tournament for the first time in nearly a decade.
Complaining of feeling sick, Tomic definitely didn’t put his best foot forward, and in the second set called for a doctor.
“I’ve felt like I was going to vomit for the last half,” the ABC reported he told the medico, “I don’t know what’s going on”.
“I feel like I’m going to throw up if I play a long rally.”
While Tomic stepped back onto the court after taking an anti-sickness pill, the downward spiral continued and he was knocked out of the tournament.
Even Bemelams claimed the usually strong competitor seemed a bit off, however, Tomic’s lack of interest in the sport throughout the tournament still begs the question whether the young star’s time on the court is coming to an end.
Earlier this month at the French Open, Tomic failed once again to impress tennis fans, with his blunt responses to media in a post-match press conference after he crashed out of the tournament.
His “next question” reply to a query about his return to the sport following what he describes as a tough year prompted speculations his tennis career wasn’t a high priority.
However, this goes against the hot-headed player’s claims in January that he needed to focus on tennis after becoming the first person to say “I’m a celebrity…Get me out of here” on Channel 10’s reality show of the same name.

Claiming he was struggling with depression, Tomic said in an on-screen confession, he wasn’t coping with life in the jungle and had made the wrong choice in choosing to appear on the television show.
The outspoken player has racked up a bandwagon of haters over time, and they were less than impressed when he went against those claims and told the Gold Coast Bulletin he was spending up big after ranking up $1 million while on the program.
