Barbra Streisand burns Trump on social media

Legendary singer Barbra Streisand has taken aim at US president Donald Trump, slamming him for spending taxpayer money on his weekend vacations.

Streisand took to Twitter to air her thoughts on the president’s spending, saying he should fund his own holidays.

“Why doesn’t billionaire Trump pay for his weekend trips and NY apartment instead of taxpayers?” she wrote.

“If Trump continues to house family in NYC & vacation at this rate, it will cost taxpayers $526 mill. Arts budget is only 1/4 this cost.”

Her comments come after Trump received backlash for the amount of holidays he has taken since becoming president.

He has spent seven consecutive weekends away from the White House at Trump-branded properties and resorts, costing taxpayers up to $2 million for each getaway, according to The Washington Post.

Prior to taking office, Trump consistently claimed he would not take many holidays if he was president, saying he “would rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done” and “would not be a president who took vacations” because “you don’t have time to take time off.”

It’s not the first time Streisand has hit out at Trump. Last months she made headlines for accusing the president of making her fat.
