If you were a fan of the ’60s TV show Then Came Bronson, or the ’90s show Twin Peaks, then chances are you would recognise Michael Parks.

Sadly, the veteran actor has died aged 77.

NewsCorp reports his agent made the announcement overnight that Parks died on Tuesday.

At this stage no official cause of death has been announced.

Parks hit our screens in the ’60s, appearing in a range of movies including Wild Seed, The Happening and Stranger on the Run.

In the ’60s he also appeared in episodes of TV shows including Gunsmoke, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Perry Mason and Route 66, as well as playing the motorcycle-riding newsman Bronson in Then Came Bronson.

Over the years he starred in hundreds of films and TV shows, notably the series Twin Peaks in the ’90s and the early ’00s films Kill Bill.

Tributes have been flowing in on social media for Parks, including some heartfelt posts by the directors he worked with.

Director Kevin Smith described Parks as “his cinematic muse” and “the best actor” he’s ever known.

“Michael was, and will likely forever remain, the best actor I’ve ever known,” he wrote on Instagram.

“He was, hands-down, the most incredible thespian I ever had the pleasure to watch perform. And Parks brought out the absolute best in me every time he got near my set.”
