There’s no denying Aussies love to travel, and with such a vast country to explore it’s not hard to understand why. But what makes the experience that much better is when it’s done with friends – or even friends you just haven’t met yet.

Next year the Travel at 60 community is heading off on several holidays together to explore the great Land Down Under. The group of over-60s will journey to all parts of Australia and you could join them. To help you plan your next getaway we’ve compiled some of the best deals so you can really make the most of being able to travel again.

Experience nature in the ACT and NSW

If you love the great outdoors, you can’t go past next year’s community tour to Canberra and the beautiful Blue Mountains. The trip is four nights’ long and takes in all the highlights of the nation’s capital and New South Wales’ incredible mountain range.

Along the way you’ll explore the gardens of Cockington Green and the National Arboretum, as well as touring Parliament House and the Australian War Memorial.

Journey through the beautiful Blue Mountains region.

Then on your way back to Sydney you’ll take the scenic route to explore the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains. Stretching over one million acres, it’s a mix of rainforest, pristine bushland and dramatic cliffs, with the spectacular views of the Three Sisters sure to amaze you.

Support bushfire ravaged communities on Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island was badly hit by the bushfires earlier this year, with flames ravishing the countryside and destroying homes and businesses. Then tourism was impacted again with the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Thankfully though restrictions are easing and the island is welcoming back visitors and you could venture there next year on a special tour which includes two friendly social games of bowls.

Get close to adorable sea lions on Seal Bay, Kangaroo Island.

This is tied in with visits to the island’s most incredible attractions including Remarkable Rocks, Seal Bay and the Penneshaw Maritime and Folklore Museum. The four-night tour is short but sweet, with the opportunity to taste delicious local produce, see abundant wildlife and view the spectacular scenery of this beautiful region.

Take it back to the ’70s on Fraser Island

Dust off the sepia shades, pull out the flares and polish those go-go boots because Travel at 60 is taking it back to the 1970s! In May next year you can join fellow over-60s and celebrate the disco decade on a three night holiday on Fraser Island.

Stay in a beautiful resort on Fraser Island.

You’ll explore the pristine lakes and beaches by day, then groove the night away at the disco and reminisce at a special ’70s trivia night where you can dress up in your favourite ’70s outfits (there will be prizes for best dressed, of course!).

Relax and unwind on the Murray River

After an uncertain and challenging year, everyone deserves a chance to kick their feet up and get away for a bit. And a cruise down the Murray River could be just the experience you need.

In May next year a group of travel-loving over-60s are heading on a South Australian adventure. The seven night trip includes a trip down the mighty Murray River through ancient gorges and red gum forests; past towering and stone cliffs and historic ports; local vineyards and spectacular nature trails.

Travellers can take in the sights of the Murray River onboard the iconic Murray Princess.

Following this you’ll enjoy a relaxing stay in Adelaide, plus a full day indulging in the food and wine of the Barossa region – home to some of the best vineyards in the world. You’ll even get to visit Maggie Beers Farm Shop and enjoy a delicious lunch at Lambert Estate.
