Travel at 60 is celebrating a little, but meaningful, ray of light during these challenging times for all Australians – three group tours organised by Travel at 60 have travelled in the past 10 days, giving some older Aussies the ‘holidays near home’ they’ve been craving for months.
“We’re thrilled to have been able to help three separate groups explore the northern regions of Queensland,” Wendy Harch, the chief commercial officer of Travel at 60, said. “Two of the groups were on our Capricorn Coast itinerary, and one group was on a boutique itinerary of Tropical North Queensland arranged specifically for the group.”
Queensland is one of the states with no current community transmission of Covid-19, and its borders are closed to travellers by road coming from Victoria, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. Air travellers are required to undertake 14 days of self-funded quarantine when they enter Queensland.
But that hasn’t stopped keen Queensland travellers from taking advantage of Travel at 60’s inclusion-packed Capricorn Coast itinerary, which sold out quickly. The package offers return rail travel from Brisbane, day trips around Central Queensland, and all meals included. More broadly, Cairns and the Whitsundays are currently the most popular destinations for travellers booking with Travel at 60.
The good news is that Travel at 60 now has six new tour dates for this popular holiday, plus a wide range of other group travel deals just for Starts at 60 community members – you check out the full range available around Australia here. Upcoming community group holidays in Queensland include Tilt Trains & Turtles, a Gold Coast Getaway, the Outback and Corner Country and Christmas on Fraser Island.
The Tropical North Queensland itinerary, meanwhile, included a guided walk along the beach at Cape Tribulation and an enviable visit to beautiful Magnetic Island. Travel at 60 organised this fab holiday at the request of a group of community members and can create a bespoke break for you and your friends too.
Starts at 60 founder and CEO Rebecca Wilson said she was so pleased to see over-60s back on the road in Queensland.
“It’s lovely to see everyone having so much fun in the photos,” she added. “We’re expanding our range of Starts at 60 Community Group Holidays as quickly as we can, knowing our community is so enthusiastic about travelling together.”
