Political and Current Affairs Contributor

Op-ed articles of 500-1,000 words that provoke and inspire, are thoughtful and fair-minded and offer opinions from across the spectrum. We also welcome intelligent and timely stories aimed at a broad, but well-informed national audience. What won’t work for us are partisan rants, pure speculation or thoughts and feelings about politics that don’t relate to the Starts at 60
audience.

Nostalgia Contributor

If you enjoy reminiscing about the ‘good old days’ and things of the past, we are looking for 400-800 word articles across a range of topics. We accept submissions on your favourite memories of holidays, favourite television and/or movie memories, favourite radio and/or music memories, favourite foods and so on …

Entertainment Contributor

For writers who like discussing their thoughts on television and movies, bingeing full seasons of television in one sitting, watching guilty pleasure reality television shows, and sharing your opinions of the newest movies and the movie-going experience. We want 500-1,000 word articles catered to television, streaming and movie content.

Relationships Contributor

For writers who take delight in relationship drama or who wonder about how modern technology is impacting people’s love lives. We’re looking for someone who is well-informed about what dating and relationships look like for 60-somethings. Articles will be 400-800 words and should have a unique perspective and voice, while being thoughtful, clean and engaging.

Digital Nomad

Writers can work from just about anywhere, including out of caravans, in the seat of a motorcycle, or off the back of a catamaran. If you’ve traded the traditional ‘bricks and mortar’ lifestyle of retirement for a life on the road exploring the world, we want to hear from you. We’re looking for 400-800 word articles that detail your decision to escape the everyday, how you budget for your travel, how you’ve handled the practicalities of not having a permanent residence, and what life on the road is really like.

Humour Contributor

Finding the humour in life in your 60s and beyond is as special a craft as humour writing alone. We want 400-800 words where humour is weaved through personal narrative to create engaging – and hilarious – stories. You are an observant writer and are comfortable writing about the human condition via your
own life experience.
